AARP is one of the villians- a big insurance company
The AARP Foundation does a lot of good work for seniors and has 73 offices nationwide for this work. BUT…. this work is largely funded by Department of Labor government grants of about $58M. The total budget is about $73M.
Separately, the AARP insurance operation and other for-profit revenue amounted to about $480M. This is attributed to the for-profit subsidiary of AARP which was created to address profits made in the huge insurance sales operation. The for-profit subsidiary, AARP Financial Services Inc.was mandated by the IRS so that corporate tax could be identified and collected. What happens to these profits, to whom are they paid or otherwise used and how are they accounted for?

No,but I know someone who's initials are SPELL.
Filing for bankruptcy would not include long term care since you have to pay monthly for assisted living or nursing care. You are correct that those are out of pocket costs unless you are on Medicaid.
What is the reason you are filing for bankruptcy? If it is credit cards and you are not planning to buy anything, I would agree, if your debts are substantial enough like $10,000, to make it worth the loss of credit. Since you wont be able to get credit afterward, you should think carefully. What credit you can get will be at exhorbitant costs. If you dont have a job you wont be able to do some things like rent a car, rent an apartment, reserve a hotel room without credit cards.
Medical out of pocket for those who dont have Medigap can be substantial, it is 20% or more of the medical bills.
Done.
Oh I see. AARP is not an association to help and watch out for seniors best interests. It's purpose is to prey upon them for profits. I was confused I guess. WHY would any senior in their right mind pay dues to that club?
Just the new Wheel Chair Race!

Alicia Anne Richard-Parsons was my best friend's grandmother's name. She passed away in 1964 at the tender age 104. She was a very snooty old woman, as I remember.
No, I'm sure this is a good organization!! But, I get info daily that goes straight to the trash and I wished they would save their postage for something useful…daily is too often!!! And, I've never signed up for it!
